Feast of Our Lady of Ransom

"Come after me and I will make you fishers of people." (Mt 4:19)

Greetings of love and peace to you

St. Andrews Church was established and first built in 1398, by Portuguese. It was rebuilt in 1779 by the Franciscan missionary Father Yovakim de Santiago. The church is also a Parish Church, part of the Diocese of Quilon, established in the 14th century. The 1779 church was built in the Portuguese Colonial style, and dedicated to St Andrew. The church building was renovated in the 2000's, and subsequently consecrated by the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Quilon, Stanley Roman in 2006.

Today, when we are looking for an opportunity to influence the salvation of souls, the people around us, we want to remind you that beside us, on each of our service, often in our own family, are the ones who need our spiritual influence, our love, care and support. These are our children.

When you come up to the end of a captivating book, you are going through mixed feelings of sadness and joy. Joy, because you eventually learned how it ends! Sadness — because it came to an end. There are so many in our lives that we put that sooner or later comes to an end. Leave inevitably stops.

MESSAGE FROM PARISH PRIEST

 Rev. fr. Abel

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the parish of St. Andrews Roman Catholic Church. If you are a member of the parish family or a prilgrimage, it is my conviction that God has a plan for you to become involved in the mission of the Church.

Our parish has been in existence since 1398  and is sorrounded by the Arabian Sea in the west, T. S. Canal in the east, K.M.M.L. MS Unit in the north and IRE factory in the south. Kovilthottam is a part of the great christian heritage of Kollam and continues to embrace the diverse generations of Catholics.

In prayer, worship and service, we gather in His Name, relying on His promise to be in our midst. Founded firmly in the faith and truth of the Catholic Church, we are proud of the legacy of our ancestors and are hopeful for our future.  Without the Lord’s grace there is no other purpose for our existence.

May God be with you and those you love as you live your journey of faith!
